Fasting and Prayer

These two tools are important to our faith’s growth. For the past month sister Perez and I have been fasting once a week to be guided to those who want to come closer to Christ in Moorestown. We have been able to see many miracles since we opened the portugese area six weeks ago but just this week we have seen even more.

1) Yane, one of the people we are helping with english opened up to us on how she grew up in a religious home but since she got married and started her own family, her devotion has slowly dropped. She shared this week that after the opening prayer to our lesson she felt God’s love for her. We were able to drop off an english Book of Mormon and a Bible at her house on Wednesday.

2) We offered free Bibles on a local facebook page and had more responses than we had bibles available so we prayed to know who needed them first. On Sunday we were able to drop off a few of them. One of them was for a mother who came out to grab it with her daughter Amanda. Amanda asked for one as well and we gave her the extra one we had. We offered a Bible Study and she gave us her phone number to set up a time.

3) We have been teaching english to Bianca. Her friend, who we are also helping with the language, referred her to us. She lives in Florida and after the closing prayer she asked if there was a church building by where she lived that she could come and worship. We found out she lives 2 minutes away from the building. We got in contact with the Portuguese speaking companionship who happen to be assigned to that area. They will be joining us in a lesson with her this week.

4) This is my favorite. We have one brazilian member who was baptized in the ward 12 years ago but shortly stopped coming because of the language barrier. No one in the ward seems to know who José is besides two people. These two members helped us track down two missionaries that served here before. One 8 years ago and one 14 years ago. Sadly it’s been a long time and they didn’t remember him, BUT one of them redirected us to a member who might. Turns out HE DOES REMEMBER! He moved to a different part of New Jersey but he is super willing to reach out to him. We haven’t been very successful reaching José but we are hopeful this member will be.

God is good. He hears us when we come to him. These experiences strengthened my testimony that God’s timing is perfect. The Portuguese speaking community here is finally being reached to come and learn more about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful to see the Lord’s hands over these people. I am merely an instrument and I thank God for the trust he puts in his servants.

You are not alone. God hears prayers, Christ knows struggles and victories and the Holy Ghost guides and prepares. I know it to be true. Hang in there friend!

With love,
Sister Santos

  1. Thank you Tyreeeeeee ❤❤
  2. Bibles, Bibles and more Bibles
  3. Me: “Hi can I share a scripture with you?”
Lady: “No. The Mormon church is false. Kisses”
I asked her why she thought that and she went on to say how I wasn’t respecting her religious freedom for “forcing” my religion to her…. 🤷‍♀️
4-. First district P-Day!! We didn’t get to go inside anywhere but we walked around Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell!! Philly Cheesesteaks were a must
