“Brother Mark” – Part 2

Just thought of starting this email telling you this story from the beginning of this week. There we were, minding our own business (and the Lord’s) at a nursing home with Pattie, a sweet old lady whose house we cleaned last week with another person we are teaching. We were there talking about crocheting, flipping through a book she had until this man came in and introduced himself as a pastor.

We introduced ourselves and had a somewhat nice conversation until he starts shooting all these questions of how the Mormon culture is and missionary work. Of course, we responded to all his questions with the best of our abilities until he decided to ignore what our old friend was talking about and ask us about Salvation. I have no problem talking about it so we explained to him about what we believe is going to happen after we die. He turns to us and says,

“Oh, but in your eyes am I good? Am I good to be saved if I don’t join the Mormon church?”

At this point we are confused and ask him to ask that question again, so he does. In my mind I was just thinking “Oh no, another Brother Mark”, so the nicest way we found to answer his question was something along the lines of,

“Pastor David, we believe in the fact that God is the only one who can judge you and your doings on earth. We can’t tell you about your own Salvation. We don’t know you but God does. You’d have to go to Him and ask if He is satisfied with what you are doing here on earth.”

He just looked at us and continued to say how he is impressed with the members of the church and how we raise children and all.

Fun times. The highlight of the week had to be church yesterday though. This ward is great and the kids are even better. We had such a great primary program and the spirit was strong. Kids sing like little angels and I absolutely love it. Children have Christ’s light within them and just like 3 Nephi 17:20-21 says

20 And they arose from the earth, and he said unto them: Blessed are ye because of your faith. And now behold, my joy is full.

21 And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.

The children in this time weren’t blessed through Christ’s physical hands but they are blessed by nature. Anyhoo, throughout the week we invited the people we are teaching and inactive members to come after our lessons with them and from eight people we invited, four came. I felt incredibly blessed to be able to see the Holy Ghost work in those that came and felt the same thing I felt while listening to the children.

I love this gospel. There is no doubt in my heart that it is true and that the power of Christ’s love works in people’s hearts when they are opened to it. Christ loves me and walks with me in Morrisville. Blessings are a gift from Heaven and I have no doubt that God lives and that I have a wonderful Savior that gave me the best gift possible. I love you all.

Ps: I found out there are a couple of streets in Philly full of Brazilian stores and this couple goes there a lot since Brother Pray served his mission in Brazil 16 years ago. He gave us GUARANA and offered to buy us some goodies next time they go up there. Gotta love these people ❤
