Philadelphia is in the Bible??

Happy Labor Day! This day is for so many people! Working parents who are away from family for most of the day, stay at home parents who don’t have days off and for everyone who gives time to help others! The Lord’s vineyard is a big one, and all of his children are called to work there! This line of work pays off in blessings which is even better!

We had quite a few lessons fall through this week and friends who suddenly disappeared out of the face of the earth. I was discouraged in the past couple of days but my beautiful companion reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from Elder Uchdorf,

“Don’t focus on the things you cannot do but on the things you can do”.

The Lord’s timing is perfect and I just need to be patient and trust him. Something we heard this week from an MTC devotional was that “God doesn’t improvise”. If he did, he wouldn’t be God so I’m just trying to exercise some patience.

Great things happened tho. We had a Brazilian family come to church who hasn’t been active in the church for the past year. We’ve been working with them since we opened the area and finally got to see their beautiful faces at church yesterday. It was a very special feeling.

Also, remember our friend Ricardo who still lives in Salvador? He already knows English so we mostly work on his writing and reading skills. We have limited material to work with so we pick stories he can relate to from church history books to read with him. Last week we read from Our Heritage and this week from Why I Believe.

He thought those stories were great and started to be interested in learning more. As we talked to him, we ended up teaching him all about the Restoration of Christ’s church! At the end he asked to read the Our Heritage book and we got to direct him to the Gospel Library App where he could read it for free. I have great love for that book so it was a tender mercy for me. Ricardo mentioned meeting with missionaries when he was 15 years old and he is so grateful to be having this opportunity again at 37.

The Lord is aware of all of us. His timing is perfect and we just need to trust in him.

I love you all!

  1. Our friend Ricardo
  2. Brazilian chicken with catupiry pizza and chocolate pizza hit different, that’s all I have to say.
3&4. Sooo the elders’s car stopped working in the middle of the freeway on their way to district council. They were stuck in the middle of the road for 3 hours. Since we didn’t have keys for the church building, we carried on with district council in the underground parking lot of the temple. Fun times lol
  3. This morning we came back home from Walmart and the lobby downstairs was locked. We didn’t have the keys so we knocked on our neighbor’s door to see if he did. He didn’t but we saw Marge chilling out there! We haven’t seen her in two weeks so I’m calling it a blessing!
  4. Did you know??!!!
