Hello!!! I’m sorry for taking a while to show up, but P-Day was moved to today this week! Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🎊
Wow, the mission is just like what D&C 4:4 says, “The field is white and ready to harvest” but it’s also right about the fact that people can be as hard as a rock. You can’t get through to them.
I’m in Newark, Delaware, where there are churches all around but lots of people who don’t want to listen a single thing related to Jesus Christ. Also, most people were born, raised, and raised their children here. It’s crazy! My companion is Sister Monson (not related to President Monson). She’s been on the field for 8 months, she has such a sweet spirit and loves the gospel. She’s a great trainer and a wonderful friend!
A good example of the people here is Cindy. She is a very sweet old lady who got baptized about 20 years ago. Every day, she rides the Union City (a bus that takes you to all four corners of the city for free). She stays there for 2-4 hours every morning talking to people about Jesus. The catch is, she was from a different religion before getting baptized. She’s been inactive at the church for a few years now. She believes God is Jehovah and the bad things happening in the world right now are because of UFO’s… Apparently, we read the Book of Mormon with her every Tuesday, and It’s been like that for about a year now. She’s met 26 missionaries over that time. She is a complicated case, but we’re here for her.
Another cool person is Monet. Sister Monson and I found her while knocking on doors last Friday. Monet is a nonmember who prays and reads the bible every day. She let us share a scripture about faith and said we could go back on Monday for a lesson, so we left her with a Restoration pamphlet. When went back on Monday, she said she had a good feeling reading it! We explained that the good feeling was the Holy Ghost and a little more about the Restoration of the gospel and about Joseph Smith. We invited her to come to church with us on Sunday, and she said she’d try to come! So happy for her! The lesson went great, besides the fact that two people were sleeping in the living room with blankets covering their faces and that we were awkwardly standing there talking about Jesus. Good times.
It’s going to be great. I’m a representative of Jesus Christ and I love having His name on my chest every day. I can feel God’s love for me and the people in Delaware. Some believe in UFO’s and some simply don’t want to hear a message about Christ, but Heavenly Father loves each one of them regardless. I know I’m in this area for a reason. I know that this is Christ’s church. He established this same gospel when he walked on Earth, and Joseph Smith restored it. I love the gospel and I leave my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Sister Santos.
